Paint protection film: finishes, thickness and roll selection
Explore Xvision Shield X paint protection film, gloss and matte finishes, and the product details to compare before ordering.
What is paint protection film?
Paint protection film, often called PPF, is a film used on compatible painted surfaces. It is a different product category from automotive window film, which is intended for glass. Xvision’s Shield X collection includes several finishes and constructions. Choose by the intended surface and exact product description rather than treating all protective films as interchangeable.
Should I choose gloss or matte PPF?
Gloss and matte describe different visual finishes. A gloss finish emphasizes reflections; a matte finish creates a more subdued appearance. Review a physical sample and the customer’s intended result before deciding. Xvision lists SuperGloss, Pro Supergloss and Dead Matte products in its paint protection collection.
What should I check about film thickness?
The Shield X collection also includes Xtreme 10 Mil and Xtreme 12 Mil products. Compare the full product description, intended application and dimensions. Thickness alone does not establish that a film is suitable for every surface or that it will prevent every type of damage. Ask for product-specific guidance when the application is uncertain.
Is headlight film the same as body PPF?
Do not assume so. The collection includes a separate Smoke X Headlight Smoke PPF product. Its intended application and dimensions differ from other rolls. Follow the product instructions and confirm suitability for the intended use before ordering.
What belongs on a PPF order checklist?
Confirm the exact film name, finish, width, length and quantity. Check preparation materials and application tools at the same time. Review any warranty and care information supplied for that product, and request missing details before installation. Keep the original product name on the job record so replacement material can be matched.
