Automotive window film: a buying guide

Compare Xvision automotive window film by series, shade, roll size and published performance. Find the right questions to ask before ordering.

What is automotive window film?

Automotive window film is a material applied to vehicle glass. The right selection depends on the intended appearance, the amount of visible light transmitted, the published performance and the dimensions needed for the installation. Xvision’s automotive range includes Carbon IR, Shield, Enhance and Valor. Start with the customer’s priorities, then compare the exact product and shade.

How do Carbon IR, Shield, Enhance and Valor compare?

Carbon IR is the entry point in this lineup. Shield and Enhance offer additional series to compare, while Valor is described by Xvision as a double-layer ceramic film. The published shade tables list TSER ranges of 36–57% for Shield, 35–60% for Enhance and 40–63% for Valor. These are ranges across shades, not a single result promised for every roll. Check the product’s own table before selecting a shade.

What does VLT mean?

Visible light transmission describes the percentage of visible light that passes through the tested material. A lower VLT value means less visible light passes through. The product label and measured result may differ, and the glass underneath also matters. Use the listed specifications for the exact shade rather than judging performance from a dark photograph.

How should I compare heat-performance figures?

TSER, SIRR and IRER are different measurements. Compare TSER with TSER, or SIRR with SIRR, using the same shade and comparable test conditions wherever possible. A high infrared figure alone is not a complete description of total solar performance. The product tables are more useful than a single headline percentage.

Which roll should I order?

Select the series, shade and roll dimensions together. Measure your planned cuts and account for the layout of the installation before choosing a width. A product’s lowest displayed price may refer to a smaller roll or another option; the selected variant determines the actual price. Confirm the size, shade and quantity shown in the cart.
